Frequently Asked Questions

What is Astral’s warranty policy?

All of our products are guaranteed against any manufacturing defects and are covered under warranty for the lifetime of the product. Please complete our Warranty form to get the process started.

My life jacket is ____ years old, is it still safe to use?

Maybe. Our jackets are made of nylon fabric, buoyancy inserts (either plastic foam or Kapok) and some hardware. Over time these components may degrade or lose their structural integrity. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend that jackets should be replaced every 5 years or after 300 days of use (whichever comes first). Also, we recommend an annual inspection of the jacket at the beginning of every season:

  1. A visual inspection: make sure there are no holes or obvious tears in the fabric or seams.
  2. Check the hardware, make sure the zippers buckle and webbing are in good condition.
  3. Test swim your life jacket in some calm and protected water.

If your jacket seems to float less than you remember from previous year, or if you’ve discovered any other damage, it may be time for a new one.

How long will it take to get my order?

We ship from North Carolina, so depending on your location anywhere from 2-10 days.

Best PFD out there

January 24, 2018

It has all the standard rescue features and more. It has all the bells and whistles you need OIT of a pfd in a super streamlined way. The greenjacket is both comfortable and solid and good looks. This pfd is perfect for paddlers of all kinds. The greatest advantage is Read More the giant lunch tray pocket on the front with dreamlike storage. I use my GJ primarily for whitewater kayaking and when adjusted correctly won't ride up on you or be bulky. The GJ has saved me a multitude of times because of its impact protection and flotation. It's perfect for anyone looking to go huge or just get on the water

Great PFD!

July 19, 2018

I recently purchased this PFD to replace my aging Green Jacket, which is also a fantastic PFD. What drew me to the Ringo was the lighter weight, and the front entry, while still being rescue harness compatible. While the added safety and rescue features of the Green Jacket are great Read More when needed, they do add weight, and in my case, I just need the tether capability. The Ringo is light, fit is very comfortable and easily adjustable. I did add a harness, which is easy, and very well integrated (and also very easy to remove on days that I don't need it). Great PFD, highly recommended!

Boundary Waters Canoe Trip

February 23, 2018

Bought two Ronny life-vests for a canoe/hiking trip in the Boundary Waters (Northern Minnesota). We concentrate on light weight, the Ronny was perfect. Didn't even notice it while paddling. We went in June, the vest was not hot. The vents worked well. The pockets were perfect for maps, fishing lures Read More and our Go-Pro camera. Liked it so much I bought another one for this years Boundary Waters trip.
